Synthetic membranes used in the filtering of water with reverse osmosis retain impurities, harmful substances, only water molecules pass through. In this way, various microparticles may be removed from the water, and also sea salt and other dissolved substances. Reverse osmosis is thus used for the purification of drinking water, the preparation of process waters and for the desalination of salt or sea water.
Electromagnetic action in the form of UV light ensures the effective disinfection of water and, above all, for the reduction of microorganisms. In this water does not need to be added chlorine or other chemicals, as light in the UV-C spectrum at a wavelength of 240 nanometers penetrates the cells of micro-organisms and thus successfully reduces them. Since UV disinfection does not affect either the smell or the taste of water, it is suitable for the production of clean drinking water.
